Advent Day 10: Confrontation

Love confronts us when we let it.

It confronts our selfishness, pride, and hate.

And it’s good that love confronts us.

Because it’s good to remember that the meek will inherit the earth.

It’s good to remember that the peacemakers are blessed in the economy of the God.

But that doesn’t make it easy.

Being confronted usually puts us on the defensive. We have a natural aversion to being corrected.

Jesus was confrontational, but only when necessary, and typically only to those in places of power, (specifically to those who abused that power).

Advent invites us to take an honest look at ourselves— to take inventory of the good, the bad, and the ugly— and to confront those things in ourselves.

So let’s lay our guard down and let this confrontation serve as an invitation to a better way.
