Advent Day 20: Incarnation

The incarnation is the belief that God became flesh in the person of Jesus. And it is one of the most scandalous and subversive things a person could believe.

The Divine willingly put on humanity.

Moved into our neighborhood and was present with us.

The Almighty became dependent on a mother’s care.

The Divine NEEDED a mother.

In a world that is so desperate to acquire power and keep it at any cost, at the center of the story of Advent is a child king.

A child king who entered the suffering of others.

A child king who elevated those of lowly estate.

A child king who centered those on the fringes of society.

Because presence is more important than power.
