Advent Day 6: Worthy
You are worthy of hope, worthy of joy.
•
Sometimes we don’t feel like it. That’s a product of the brokenness of our world.
•
But you are worthy.
•
By nature of the Divine Image you bare, you are worthy of hope. Worthy of love and joy and peace.
•
If you know this, you don’t need me to convince you.
•
If you don’t know this, or if you don’t FEEL this, then it is unlikely that I could convince you.
•
So don’t think I’m trying to convince you.
•
But do know that I believe fully that Advent teaches us that we are worthy.
•
Not because of anything we’ve done. Not because we have performed and been found worthy. Not because we are so accomplished, so successful, or so kind. It’s not because we made the nice list. (And we don’t lose it if we’ve been found on the naughty list.)
•
But because Advent is built on the bedrock hope that that all wrongs will be made right.
•
Because a son will be born and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be the first righteous ruler our world has ever known.
•
There will be mercy and there will be justice.
•
And there will be joy. Abundantly so.
•
Even for you and for me. Especially for you and for me.
